The self-directed Artist-In-Residence program provides affordable space for artists of all mediums to create in. It is intended for, but not limited to, visual artists, filmmakers, curators, musicians, producers, directors, writers, and photographers. Artists also have the opportunity to facilitate outreach programs such as artist talks, concerts, studio visits, workshops and exhibitions. These activities are intended to promote interaction and professional development, and provide access for the community to a diverse range of arts practices.
ACCOMMODATIONS & STUDIO SPACES
Artists stay in IMA’s new building “The Nest” on the historic “downtown” strip, where you can choose from rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen, and private bathroom with shared kitchen. The Visual Arts Studios, which are a stone’s throw from the accommodations, are in the IMA School building, both boasting lots of natural light and high ceilings. For musicians the little church at the end of the street has become a popular spot for writing and recording and for dancers the Community Hall ballet studio across the street, is ideal. Contact us about your studio needs and we will try our best to accommodate. Wells is filled with a wide variety of unique spaces and venues.
Costs will vary depending on the spaces that you choose. IMA is dedicated to making Wells affordable for visiting artists and provides scholarships and bursaries to all its programs.
