SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK:

 

Sunday, August 13

7pm – Welcome Reception: A chance to meet your instructors and pick up your student information packages, IMA Gallery, 2323 Pooley Street.

 

Daily

School Opens at 8am for coffee, tea (available all throughout the day too).

9am – 12:15pm – Morning session Beg/Novice (Caroline), Intermediate (Tristan & Sunita), advanced (Màiri), Cello (Morag)

12:15 – 1:45pm Lunch options available for purchase (except Wednesday which has the afternoon off)

1:45 – 3:45pm Afternoon session (except Wednesday which has the afternoon off)

School closes at 4pm (arrangements can be made for after hours access, with a $20 deposit students and receive a fob that will give 24 hour access)

 

Monday, August 14

9am – 12:15pm – Morning session Beg/Novice (Caroline), Intermediate (Tristan & Sunita), advanced (Màiri), Cello (Morag)

12:15 – 1:45pm – Lunch

1:45 – 3:45pm – Afternoon session ensemble work (stay with same ensemble for all three afternoon sessions on Mon, Tues & Thurs) or solo practice

Choose from ensembles at different levels or spend the afternoon in solo practice

Beginner and Early Intermediate - Caroline
Intermediate – Màiri
Intermediate - Sunita
Advanced/Intermediate - Tristan

5:30pm BBQ - Enjoy a delicious BBQ starting at 5:30pm at the School (local beef and vegetarian/vegan options).

 

Tuesday, August 15

9am – 12:15pm – Morning session Beg/Novice (Caroline), Intermediate (Tristan & Sunita), advanced (Màiri), Cello (Morag)

12:15 – 1:45pm – Lunch

1:45 – 3:45pm – Afternoon session ensemble work (stay with same ensemble all week) or solo practice

7:30pm Harp Concert at the Sunset Theatre (doors at 7pm) - performances by the instructors at the amazing Sunset Theatre in Wells. Free for students

Extra tickets for the Concert can be purchased for $25, plus GST.

 

Wednesday, August 16 – Half Day

Morning sessions will run as usual from 9am – 12:15pm

Afternoon off to do a hike, go to Barkerville Historic Town (students receive free admission) go to the Theatre Royal, or just relax around Wells.

7pm – Dance workshop with Tristan in the School Gym: In this workshop you will learn how to dance the most popular Breton dances such as An dro, Hanter-dro. No prior experience needed.

 

Thursday, August 17

9am – 12:15pm – Morning session 

12:15 – 1:45pm – Lunch

1:45 – 3:45pm – Afternoon session ensemble work (stay with same ensemble all week) or solo practice

6pm – Ceilidh and Potluck Party: Taking place in the School Gym, $10 donation or a potluck item. Open to the Public.

New this year the Ceilidh will not feature performances by each of the classes, but will be a more relaxed opportunity for any students or instructors who want to perform, plus Tristan will lead some dances that were taught on Wednesday night. By not having the classes perform there is no need to move all the harps to the gym, just the harps of those who want to share. The Friday afternoon “150 All Canada Jam” is the chance for students to perform in their ensembles and classes.

 

Friday, August 18

Morning sessions will run as usual from 9am – 12:15pm

12:15 – 1:45pm – Lunch

1:45pm – 3:45pm - Giant Group "150 All Canada Jam" in the Gym

This jam will be an opportunity for all the classes and ensembles to share the work they have been doing. This time all the harps will move to the gym.

7pm – Harp/Cello Musical Jam – Bear’s Paw Café, informal and optional
