Plein Air One Day Workshop

40.00

Instructor: Clare Singleton
Saturday, May 26, 10am - 2pm, 2018
Fee: $40
Spend the day painting on site in Wells with Clare Singleton. Beginners welcome.

We will each pick a view we like and I will work on a piece and demonstrate. We will start with several gesture sketches and settle on one view and proceed from there. Painters will be working from life, not the sketch. I will talk to each participant as they work and we will do a final critique at the end. You may finish the whole piece, but then again you may not. It is the process not the product.

Students need to bring their own supplies. They need a sketchbook with ideally loose drawing materials like graphite, oil pastel or pencil if all else fails. may want a folding stool, outdoor clothing, and bag lunch (no dashing to cafes). IMA can provides easels or you can work on your lap. Bring along watercolour or acrylics. I use acrylics with stand up easel. I recommend bringing a 22 x 28 size canvas. Paint the whole canvas with your favourite bright warm colour before you come - keep it light and bright. Painters may want an umbrella for sun or rain. We will take a lunch break right where we work and have a preliminary critique whilst eating in front of Island Mountain Arts Gallery.
