CALEB DYKS is a professional actor and multi-disciplinary artist, originally from Ottawa, ON. He is a graduate of Studio 58 and sits on the Board of Directors at Pi Theatre. When Caleb isn’t acting, you can catch him working at various theatres across Vancouver. Sebastian is a Colombian-Canadian Cinematographer based in Vancouver BC. He holds a BFA in Film from Toronto Metropolitan University, where he was awarded the Streamland Media Award in Cinematography.His work has been featured in film festivals like Slamdance, Whislter Film Festival, NFFTY, Chilliwack Independent Film Festival, London Short Film Festival, LEO Awards, and more.Sebastian is drawn to poignant, character-driven stories, and brings a delicate sensibility to every project he works on.He is a natural collaborator with an eye for emotionally affecting images, and he works to create a welcoming environment on set. Young Moviemakers is an award-winning acting and film program for children and youth of all ages. Using high end, professional grade equipment, participants learn the importance of visual storytelling, scriptwriting, acting, editing and more, through the creation of short films.
This year, Island Mountain Arts and Young Moviemakers have partnered to bring you two programs!
Young Moviemakers Classic | March 16 - 20 | 5 fun days of filmmaking in Wells BC for kids ages 6 - 14.
Young Moviemakers Advanced | Week of Feb 9 - Week of March 9 VIRTUAL ; March 16 - 20 In-Person in Wells | Ages 11 - 17, or with permission from instructor.
Beginning the week of Feb 9th, this Young Moviemakers program will feature 5 x 2h advanced classes virtually, with a full week on the ground from March 16 - 20 to shoot and lock their picture. The first step towards making a film that's festival-eligible!
Week 1. Story refresher. We start brainstorming what our movie will be about.
Week 2. Finalize story outline, begin screenwriting | Homework - Write Script
Week 3. Storyboarding, mood boarding using Shotdeck | Homework: location scouting
Week 4. Lining a script, scheduling, intro to Sunseeker App | Homework: gather props & costumes, finalize shooting schedule
Week 5. Intro to directing actors, final notes
