Island Mountain Arts presents a residency with artist-in-residence, Kristin Krimmel. West Coast artist and educator, Kristin Krimmel, has shown her work internationally and has been teaching since the 1970s, including courses at Emily Carr College of Art and Design. Meet daily with Kristin and the other artists to discuss the day’s progress, getting feedback and problem solving tips. Participants can work in the IMA studios as well as out in the field.

Each artist will be provided with 24hr access to large bright art studios and have access to easels and other basic class room equipment (tables & chairs), but all art supplies need to be brought by the participating artists. Artists can stay in the new IMA Artist-in-Residence building “The Nest.” For four-days prior to the residency Kristin will be teaching a Drawing Essentials workshop.

What are the Selection Criteria?

Based on a review of the application materials and the following considerations, Island Mountain Arts will select individuals to receive scholarships. Scholarships will be awarded through a juried process based on the following criteria. Island Mountain Arts reserves the right to change these criteria if the submissions warrant.

Applications must include the following:

  • 6 - 10 images of their work
  • Show a commitment to their art practice.
  • A letter stating what they hope to gain from this experience
  • Provide a current CV/bio and artist statement
  • A commitment to attend the residency if accepted
