In this workshop, we will draw our inspiration from the forest as we design and carve a unique printing block for textiles. Participants will apply their relief printing block to fabric and enhance the image with hand painting.
This is a fun way to repurpose tired clothes or find a new purpose for old textiles. Although, synthetic fibres work with this process, natural plant based fabrics such as linen and cotton give the best results. The fabric must be able to handle direct heat by an iron.
Participants should bring at least one item to work on, such as a shirt, skirt, tablecloth, napkins or piece of fabric. It is a good idea to bring an extra piece for back up. Also, an in-phone camera is helpful and a favourite sketch book and pencil if you have one, although options will be provided.
